If you had to create a story using story dice, what would you come up with?
Would it be poetry or prose? Something imaginary or connected to you personally?
When I was part of a writers’ group, we were often given optional homework tasks. This was one of them.
I hadn't written much poetry before, but I felt it would be the best way to convey what I wanted to say with the image of the story dice.
Am I writing about someone, a hopeful fantasy, or is it a complete figment of creativity? I’ll let you decide.
Here it is, my poem - You.
I will be met with your bright smile soon,
It beams just like a crescent moon.
Drawn into you and your peaceful presence,
North to my south in every essence.
A magnetic force one cannot mask,
When your eyes meet mine, my heart beats fast.
You're as hot as a flame around a candle wick,
And supportive like a walking stick.
Your mind is open, just like a hand,
Brushing through golden grains of sand.
I feel your heat as a desert pyramid,
A pinch to my being from the arrow of Cupid.
I really just want you to know,
You are well-rounded like our globe.
I've been unlocked because you're my key,
When we're together, I'm so happy.
I hope you're cosy under that blanket,
Forever gazing at you, a telescope to a planet.
Between you and I, the love runs deep,
As I spend my mornings watching you sleep.
